Objectives
The goal of this project is to develop the first real-time, large-scale, data assimilation grid implementation for the study of earthquakes that will:
- Develop a Complexity Computational Environment (CCE) to enable the study of earthquakes as the first step in the Solid Earth Research Virtual Observatory (SERVO)
- Enable an ease of data discovery, access, and usage from the scientific user point of view, as well as provide capabilities to carry out efficient data mining
- Advance Grid technology by building the first real-time large-scale data assimilation grid that assimilates distributed data sources into a parallel high-performance computing earthquake forecasting code
- Develop infrastructure to carry out efficient performance of complex models on high-end computers using distributed heterogeneous data.
